Lego Ninjago Katana V11 (70638) Review

Today, I will be reviewing the Katana V11 from season 8 of Ninjago. The set's retail price is $19.99 and includes 257 pieces and 2 minifigures: Kai and Luke Cunningham. The build-able items in the set are Kai's speed boat and a Sons of Garmadon motorcycle.
The Build:
The main build of the set is Kai's Katana V11. The set is quite big for its retail and offers splendid use of pieces and colors. The set features a storing compartment in the front of the boat and also contains a very large cockpit that fits the minifigure at ease. The sides also open up which I have not yet figured out what for, but it does look quite cool in that position. Behind that there are two missile compartments that can be extended and shot. The colors of the set are simply marvelous. The idea of bright orange, red, and gold is such a great color combination that it's hard to take your eyes off it once it is built.

There is also a small build for the sons of Garmadon which is a motorcycle. It is basically an add on and Lego did a pretty good job. It is simple yet can be played with and enjoyed for hours. It contains the basic mold for motorcycles and does sport some graffiti stickers on the sides.
The Minifigures:
The first minifigure is Kai. After first seeing this set, I knew I had to get it simply because of this figure. Like the V11, Kai sports some accented bright orange on his torso which makes him look absolutely amazing. His torso and legs a also printed so perfectly and precisely that the figure to me is worth getting. His head is that same one from the Lego Ninjago Movie sets which inlcudes both happy and enraged facial expressions. He has the new two piece mask which is colored in red this time instead of the tradition black. His accessories include two katanas which are held in his scabbard/shoulder armor piece.

The other minifigure that is included is Luke Cunningham. He includes a new face print, but it is only one sided which is sad. The torso that is included is printed on both sides and I absolutely love how detailed it is, especially on the back where the S.O.G. logo is. He also includes a nice new armor piece which is really nice. His legs are unexpectedly printed as well and are done very nicely. His head piece is a helmet which includes tactical goggles.

Overall:
My final thoughts on this set is that you should definitely acquire it. The price per piece ratio is good and the minifigures and build are absolutely incredible for the price.

Build: 10/10
Minifigures: 9/10
Play-ability: 10/10
Value: 9/10

Overall: 9.5/10
