Lego Ninjago Movie Cole's Quake Mech (70632) Review

Ever since I saw the Lego Ninjago Movie, I was fascinated by Cole's Quake Mech. Since Lego did not release it prior to the movie release, I was intrigued to see how Lego would make it stand on its own. The set is 1202 pieces and is priced at $89.99 retail. This makes the price per piece count at around 7 cents per piece which is great. The set also includes 5 minifigures which I will review later.
The Quake Mech
Cole's Quake Mech stands approximately 14 inches tall while the wheel itself stands 5 inches. The overall look of this set is fantastic! Although it is not to scale, Lego did an excellent job rendering the set to look like it's original from the movie. The arms move up and down at both the shoulder and elbow which is nice for posing the model. The forearm also rotates 360 degrees which is also quite nice. There are a few spots which I think Lego could have improved on which was the underside of the vehicle. A lot of colored bricks show which I do not like and could have easily been dealt with if Lego just used black or brown bricks.
The back is a little bit detailed which is nice, although I wish Lego put a bit more effort into it. As we can see, the secret to how Lego made this one wheeled behemoth stand is revealed. Lego used a nice technic connection beam in order to make the Quake Mech more realistic.
Since there are not a lot of play features in this set, Lego decided to take some liberties and create some boom box flick fire missiles. I honestly would not prefer this, but it is easily able to be hidden which is very nice.
The cockpit of this set is able to fit Cole and also includes his DJ mixer on turntables which is very cool. Cole does have to sit thought in the cockpit, but it is nice that Lego put so much detail into this.
The Minifigures
The first minifigure on the list is Cole. Since it is his mech, I think that it was very fitting for Lego to include him in the set. This Cole is no different form the one that came in the Destiny's Bounty. Cole features a dual molded head and his 2 piece face mask. His torso is printed on both the front and back and also has some printing on his arms. His legs also have some printing which looks great. The Cole minifigure is excellently executed in my opinion, especially in his printing. The weapon included with Cole is his hammer which is simply 4 Lego pieces connected for a beautiful design.

The next minifigure on the list is Lady Iron Dragon who is Lloyd's mom, Koko. She features some new elements which in my opinion will be very highly sought after. First is her new hair piece. The piece is dual molded and is perfect for the figure. The other great new piece is her arrow holder. This piece features a brand new arrow holder piece with an added should guard with some excellent printing on it all.The torso is printed magnificently on both the front and back while the legs are standard black.  Lady Iron Dragon also includes a nice new skirt piece. The one problem that most people have is the effect of printing yellow on black on the face. The resolution did not show up well, but the figure is still worth getting at any opportunity. The accessory included is a standard black bow.

The thrid minifigure is the news reporter, Fred Finley. I don't have much to say about this figure because I do not recall him in the movie. The figure has no purpose in this set, but is still a fairly nice addition. His head is only one sided, but is very nicely printed with the mustache. his torso is great but simple which is not a bad thing. His legs are the standard dark bluish grey and his accessory is an all black microphone.

The last two are the Shark Army thugs, Mike and Spike. Mike is the one on the left and Spike is the one on the right. Mike features the standard equipment for a Shark Army Thug but includes a different face which sports and nice long mustache a goatee. Both his torso and legs have wonderful printing. His accessory is the fish sword this time from a wide arrange of fish weaponry. Spike is one of the Shark Army crabs in Garmadon's army. His head piece is great and amazingly executed on Lego's part. He also includes a nice neck piece as his oxygen tank. His torso and legs are also very nicely printed. His accessory is I believe a fish spear.

Overall
This set is definitely my absolute favorite from the Lego Ninjago Movie line of sets. It is definitely worth getting, especially because of its price per piece and good minifigure selection.
