Lego Ideas The Beatles Yellow Submarine (21306) Review

When the Lego Yellow Submarine was released in November of last year, I just knew that I would have to get it.  Last week I did.

I noticed immediately that the box was very high quality.  This is not unusual for a Lego Ideas set, but this box stood apart.  The artwork is fantastic from every angle and it is very faithful to the art that went with the original Yellow Submarine.  The box is even printed on the inside, with the Beatles waving at their Lego counterparts on the other side.

Set:
The set comes in five bags, with one Beatle in each of the first four and the final figure in the last one.  The build is very exciting with many interesting pieces used for surprising purposes.  Many fairly new pieces are included in the set as well as existing elements in rare colors.

Like all Lego ideas sets, the Yellow Submarine has no stickers.  Everything is printed.
These pieces decorate the interior of the submarine which has room for all four minifigures.
The finished model is very sturdy and surprisingly heavy.  The outside of the set is very much like the original.  Everything from the shape to the varying shades of yellow is captured in the Lego rendition of the iconic submarine.
Minifigures:
The minifigures are very detailed.  They all have double-sided heads and the torsos that are all very detailed.  Their legs are interesting.  Two of the minifigures have normal minifigures legs, but John and Ringo have printing on the sides of their legs.

Overall:
The Lego Ideas Yellow Submarine is a great set.  It accurately reflects the original while still being functional and sturdy.  The minifigures are excellent.  All of this combined makes it a very high quality set that I hope will be in production for a long time.

Build: 10/10
Minifigures: 8/10
